Who We Are

       The Bharatiya aspiration has always been the search for the Real in the midst of the non-Real, for Enlightenment in the midst of ignorance, for Immortality in the midst of death.

       Aligning itself with this national aspiration, the Ramakrishna Movement’s goal is self-enlightenment and service to humanity.  

       In accordance with the teachings of the Holy Trio in this regard, Sri Sarada Ashramam, Tiruvannamalai is dedicated to promoting spiritual practices among devotees and sadhakas and rendering meaningful social service for the general welfare of the society, especially women and children.

       Hence our motto is the same as that which Swami Vivekananda framed as the Motto of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission, which is, “Atmano Mokshartham Jagat Hitaya cha” that is, “To work for one’s own salvation as well as for the welfare of the world.”
